About This Spot

Step into Jeri Nims Soda Shop and you’re instantly wrapped in a nostalgic yet unpretentious atmosphere, where time seems to slow just enough to appreciate the thoughtful simplicity of a classic American eatery. Nestled on bustling Magazine Street in New Orleans, this cozy spot offers a quiet respite amid the city’s vibrant hum — a place where locals and visitors alike can settle in for a casual meal or a sweet pause in their day.

The pace here is invitingly easy: a friendly nod at the counter, the gentle clink of glass bottles, the soft murmur of conversation blending with the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sweet cinnamon rolls. It feels less like a hurried stop and more like a brief gathering, where human moments happen between bites and sips.

Jeri Nims Soda Shop carries the comforting vibe of a neighborhood café with a touch of old-fashioned soda fountain charm. While the space embraces its place inside the WWII Museum, it holds its own as a laid-back spot to enjoy hearty, thoughtfully prepared fare. The kitchen demonstrates care, evident in the delicate balance of flavors—from a warmly spiced chicken wrap to a patty melt that carries that familiar, satisfying richness you hope to find in a roadside diner. Sweet touches, like a cinnamon roll dripping with cream cheese icing, invite guests to linger, savoring the slow pleasure of dessert paired with a rich café au lait or an iced chai latte.

The setting itself adds to the experience — inviting seating arrangements and playful, vintage-inspired décor create a backdrop where nostalgic simplicity meets genuine friendliness. It’s easy to imagine the conversations and quiet moments shared over coffee, or the casual fuel-up after a day of exploring nearby museums and neighborhoods.

While pricing reflects its prime location, many find that the genuine warmth of service and quality of offerings make Jeri Nims a thoughtful stop for a small but meaningful bite. It’s a place where flavors echo tradition, yet bring a personal touch, inviting a slow, satisfying moment before stepping back into New Orleans’ lively streets.

Like others have said, the price is kind of high for counter service, but the food quality was great! We got a beef patty melt and the gumbo. Super friendly service, short wait time, and charming atmosphere. We didn’t get to try any desserts but they had a display of several delicious-looking treats.

Wow, people are rating this place like a real restaurant... I don't know, but compared to themed restaurants inside themed parks, this place really wasn't that bad. I was really digging the decor and the staff was quite friendly. I came here for a quick refuel (of soda... it's a soda shop right?) after running through the first building in the WWII museum and found it convenient to be directly connected to the biggest souvenir shop in the museum. Most importantly, I didn't felt like I was getting severely price gouged as I do at most themed park restaurants. If people are really starving for some good food, Cochon Butcher is just 2 blocks east. It's not like the museum has restriction on in and out privileges.

Iced coffee wasn't wonderful. Chocolate chip cookie was a little hard. Ice cream was great. Decorations and seating is so cute.

Small cafe in the WWII offer grab and go and also a few hot items. Delicious desserts served here as well. Felt it was overpriced, but I mean touristy city and in a highly trafficked museum

I wouldn’t have believed it…but the chicken sandwich was one of the best I ever had. I had low expectations and wished I had taken a pic. Afterwards, I commented to the counter how good it was, and she told me they marinate the chicken for at least 12 hours. And it tasted like it. Very tender and juicy.
